Porcelain Veneers Questions
What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of dental ceramic that can be permanently bonded to the front surfaces of your upper or lower teeth. Porcelain is the material of choice for veneers because it perfectly matches the color, shape, and translucency of natural tooth tissue.
Do I need porcelain veneers?
Maybe. There are many different factors used to determine what the best cosmetic dentistry treatment is for your teeth. Dr. Kun will evaluate your dental history, the current condition of your teeth, and, most importantly, what you would like to accomplish and the results you would like to see.
Porcelain veneers can be used for a variety of different purposes, including:
- Changing the shape or size of your teeth
- Whitening deep, permanently stained teeth
- Covering chips or cracks in teeth
- Straightening crooked or misaligned teeth
- Filling gaps between teeth
- Correcting teeth that have been worn down
How is the porcelain veneer procedure performed?
Receiving your porcelain veneers will usually take a few different appointments over the course of three or four weeks. During the first appointment, Dr. Kun will gently reshape the enamel on the front of the teeth receiving the veneers. This is done to make sure the porcelain veneers look natural and fit correctly on your teeth.
Then, Dr. Kun will take an impression of your teeth that will be sent to a master technician where your custom-made porcelain veneers will be created. After the impression has been taken, temporary veneers will be placed while your custom porcelain veneers are being created.
Once the custom porcelain veneers have been created and sent back to Dr. Kun, you will have another appointment. During this appointment, Dr. Kun will ensure that your porcelain veneers are perfect for you and he will skillfully and permanently bond them to your teeth.
Your new porcelain veneers will be colored to either perfectly match the rest of your natural tooth or they can be colored to improve your smile, making it dazzling white. Once they are bonded, your porcelain veneers require only simple maintenance and regular checkups to keep them looking wonderful for years to come.
What are the benefits of porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers have many advantages over other materials and cosmetic dentistry procedures. Porcelain veneers can correct a very wide variety of aesthetic problems, including:
- Stains and Discoloration
- Worn Teeth
- Crooked Teeth
- Misshaped Teeth
- Gaps Between Teeth
Also, porcelain veneers can be used on multiple teeth on both your top and bottom rows, allowing you to gain a completely new smile in just a few appointments. Porcelain veneers also mimic the translucency of natural tooth tissue, giving you wonderful, natural looking results.
Porcelain veneers are often used to straighten crooked smiles, providing the straight teeth that used to require years of traditional orthodontic work
How will my porcelain veneers look?
Porcelain veneers are one of the most advanced, sought after, cosmetic dentistry treatments available today. Not only can porcelain veneers correct many different problems with your teeth, they can even straighten crooked teeth, and they are incredibly natural looking.
Once you receive your porcelain veneers, you will have a smile you can be proud of. Your porcelain veneers will mimic the appearance and translucency of natural teeth, and they are stain resistant, allowing you to do all the things you would do with your natural teeth.
Although porcelain veneers are a wonderful cosmetic dentistry option, they require the skill of an experienced, well-trained cosmetic dentist to be applied. Porcelain veneers requires an artistic eye as well as in-depth knowledge of dentistry.
